The RTÉ All-Ireland Open Drama Finals got underway on Thursday night with the Estuary Players and their production of The Boys Next Door by Tom Griffin. Tim Coffey | An Appreciation

Tim Coffey | An Appreciation

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Tim Coffey, Kilmeen Drama Group. His immense talent, vision and enthusiasm for theatre were the core reasons behind Kilmeen’s success over the past few years. Success that brought three All-Ireland Open titles; 2006 (A Crucial Week in the Life of a Grocer’s Assistant), 2011 (A Whistle in the Dark) and 2012 (The Weir) plus numerous applauding theatre fans, such as myself, who were totally captivated by his masterful hand on each production. My deepest sympathies go out to his wife Juliet, sons Dylan and Jack. I’ll let the words of his friend Kevin O’Donovan express the loss felt, not only by his family but by his friends, his group Kilmeen and the entire drama community. Ar dheis De a anam
